When a school onboards onto NxtStepEdu, we collect information necessary to operate the platform on behalf of students, parents, teachers, and administrators.

• Account details: name, role, school name, email address, and phone number.
• Student academic data: attendance records, grades, assignment submissions, and report cards.
• Fee & payment data: fee structure, payment history, and transaction references processed via Razorpay.
• Communication data: messages exchanged between parents and teachers within the app.
• Device & usage data: app version, device type, and basic diagnostics for performance monitoring.

How We Use Your Data

Data collected through NxtStepEdu is used solely to deliver and improve the school management experience for your institution.

• Generating attendance reports, report cards, and academic analytics.
• Processing fee payments and issuing automated receipts.
• Sending notifications about assignments, attendance, and announcements.
• Powering AI-based academic insights and risk alerts for principals and teachers.
• Improving platform reliability, performance, and security.

Data Sharing

NxtStepEdu shares data only with trusted service providers required to operate core platform features, and only to the extent necessary.

• Razorpay: for processing fee payments via UPI, cards, net banking, and wallets.
• Cloud infrastructure providers: for secure hosting and backups within India.
• SMS/notification providers: for delivering attendance and fee reminders.
• Data may also be disclosed where required by applicable law or a valid order from a government authority.

Data Security

We apply industry-standard safeguards to protect data stored and transmitted through NxtStepEdu.

• Data encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.
• Data encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3.
• Role-based access controls ensure each user only sees data relevant to their role.
• Regular security audits and access logging across all administrative actions.

Data Residency

All student, parent, and school data is hosted on servers located within India (AWS Mumbai region), ensuring compliance with applicable Indian data residency expectations and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA).

Your Rights

Parents, teachers, and administrators have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about them or their children.
• Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information.
• Request deletion of personal data, subject to academic record-keeping requirements.
• Withdraw consent for optional communications such as marketing updates.

Children's Data

NxtStepEdu is designed for use by schools and is administered by adults — teachers, principals, and parents — on behalf of students. Student data is entered and managed by the school, and parents retain visibility and oversight over their child's information at all times. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children outside of this supervised school context.

Cookies & Tracking

Our web and mobile apps use minimal essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences such as theme and language. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Data Retention

Academic records are retained for as long as a student is enrolled and for a reasonable period afterward to support transcript and transfer requests, in line with school record-keeping norms. Payment records are retained as required for accounting and tax purposes. Schools may request deletion of historical data subject to these requirements.

Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated to school administrators via email, and the "last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
